The ARTEMIS project, which aims to better understand metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) progression and related cardiac complications through virtual human twins was proud to be represented at the congress DT4PH in Leuven, organised by Professor @Liesbet Geris from @KU Leuven.
Our colleague @Stephanie André-Dumont from @Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc shared insights into the development of digital twins for healthcare and the opportunities they offer to transform patient care.
One of the key messages from the discussions was clear: the future of digital twins is not only about advanced technology—it is about solving real clinical needs.
Many exciting projects are underway across Europe, driven by passionate and dedicated teams. However, the real challenge lies in successfully translating these innovations into everyday clinical practice. To achieve this, we must start with the right clinical questions, engage clinicians from the very beginning, and ensure that the tools we develop address genuine unmet needs.
Clinicians do not necessarily need to understand every detail of the underlying algorithms. What they need are solutions that are validated, trustworthy, secure, and capable of supporting better clinical decision-making.
At ARTEMIS, we strongly believe that successful innovation is built on collaboration between clinicians, researchers, modelers and patients. Only by working together can we develop digital health solutions that truly improve patient care.
